Who could resist a name like the Flying Pig Roast?
Last Sunday was the 3rd annual fundraiser for the Institute Library in New Haven. Headlining dinner was an acorn-fed heritage hog from Walden Hill Pork, roasted under the watchful eye of pitmaster (and author) Jack Hitt. Co-roaster Jason Sobocinski of Caseus was also on hand providing collards, mac & cheese and beer from his brewery, Black Hog Brewing Company.
And what is a backyard barbecue without a sweet finish?
Behold the most beautiful table of desserts, courtesy of library friends and board members. What a talented group of bakers!
Jack Hitt: Pitmaster, author, and This American Life contributor.
David Leite of Leite’s Culinaria was on hand to sign his book The New Portuguese Table
Jen Milikowsky: New Haven native, Yale grad and founder of Walden Hill, speaking about our meal’s acorn-fed pig.
This library is member-based and one of the last organizations of its kind in the country.
