Last August we attended our firstĀ Farm 2 Fork dinner hosted by Schoolhouse in Cannondale. Down to the wire after a day at the office, we arrived right at chow time and completely missed the tour of Millstone Farm. This year I was determined not to make the same mistake. I calculated this mid June dinner would have the longest possible amount of daylight, plus hopefully some milder weather.
There was almost enough light to shoot photos through dessert, but I couldn’t have been more wrong about the weather. It was well into the 90s that day and even after 6 PM, the sun was still blazing down as farmer Annie Farrell welcomed us onto this beautiful Wilton Connecticut farm.
At the dinner table
A few welcoming words from Schoolhouse chef Tim LaBant
Posh n’ Beans: with frisee, watercress and radish
Root salad of carrots, baby beets, turnips, kale and feta
Raw Connecticut oysters with lemon tabasco mignonette
Baby zucchini succotash
Roasted chicken breast and fried chicken legs
By dessert it’s really too dark to be taking photos, but here’s the cherry buckle
Farm 2 Fork dinners are monthly throughout the summer. $130 pp including dinner, wine, tax and tip. Follow the Schoolhouse Facebook page for upcoming events.

Your food photos are always spectacular, Liz, but they seem to shine extra beautifully when you’re in natural-light situations.
