Brent’s back. This time he came down from Boston for a dose of Fall foliage here in Connecticut. One week after that freak snow storm, there were still some vibrant yellows still hanging on during the first weekend in November. On a recommendation from Amy and Ryan, we stopped in for a very quick hike at Devil’s Hopyard State Park.
The signature stepped Chapman Falls are a quick walk from the parking lot, but we’ll need a longer visit to to explore the trails and see more of the varied landscape within. Perhaps this weekend. We’re headed back to Chester.
After stopping in at Gillette Castle (visible below on the left), we raced to arrive in time for the the next crossing of the Hadlyme-Chester Ferry.
We had wanted to take Brent on the Essex steam train and riverboat ride, but it was no longer running foliage tours in November. This quickie ferry ride across the peaceful Connecticut River got Brent out on the water, if only for a few minutes. At $3 a crossing we aren’t exactly sure how this ferry stays in business, but it was an unexpected bonus to get out on the water. (And in case you were wondering- no, this ferry ride was not sponsored by Audi.)
Tacuba awaits. After meeting up with Amy and Ryan in Chester, we headed South on I-95 to get this UCI graduate some tacos! You can view all our food photos from the weekend on FB.
