high tide in point beach

The UWS twins came back to the ‘burbs a few weeks ago. For this year’s visit, we brought them to the waterfront, where they experienced high tide at my in-laws house on the Long Island Sound.

Emily LOVES the water. She is fearless.

D, with his parents.

Their patio, in full bloom.

All this waterfront beauty does come with some drawbacks.
I’m sure things look very different today, as they button-up their direct waterfront home in the face of possible storm surge flooding and whatever else this weakening hurricane might throw our way. D’s parents have lived in Point Beach for over 40 years.  This is not their first time preparing for a storm.

May Irene’s powers continue to diminish. She seems to be determined to visit us here in New England. Stay safe if you find yourself in her path this weekend.
