On Saturday afternoon the sun came back out and we drove out of Portland to to visit Sake One. Their claim to fame? They are the world’s only American-owned sake brewery. On the way back we passed by The Grand Lodge, also in Forest Grove. It’s a McMenamins property and if you’re in Oregon I recommend at least checking out their unique holdings: rehabbed theaters, schools, or in this case, a former Masonic & Eastern Star home built in 1922. There were guests playing disc golf on the front lawn and we happily sat under the shade of the striped green umbrella for the Yardhouse Happy Hour. I thought tots made a fine potato substitute, instead of the usual chips or fries.
